And I thought I had heard it all...

Okay, so I do not normally write about other people's shit. I do not do current events. But this was something I just could not go without commenting on. Before I say another word, read the following article...

CASSELBERRY, Fla. — A police officer who slipped and injured a knee responding to a toddler's near-drowning has sued the family of the 1-year-old boy, who suffered brain damage and can no longer walk, talk or swallow.

Casselberry Sgt. Andrea Eichhorn alleges Joey Cosmillo's family left a puddle of water on the floor, causing her fall during the rescue efforts. She broke her knee and missed two months of work.

The boy fell into the pool outside the family's home in suburban Orlando in January and now lives in a nursing home and eats and breathes through tubes.

"The loss we've suffered, and she's seeking money?" said Richard Cosmillo, 69, the boy's grandfather, who lived in the home with his wife and the boy's mother. "Of course there's going to be water in the house. He was sopping wet when we brought him in."

Eichhorn's attorney, David Heil, said she has persistent knee pain and will likely develop arthritis. He said city benefits paid by workers' compensation and some disability checks helped with medical bills, but it wasn't enough.

The lawsuit seeks unspecified damages.

"It's a situation where the Cosmillos have caused these problems, brought them on themselves, then tried to play the victim," Heil said.

Eichhorn's personnel file includes numerous commendations. The 12-year veteran has worked as a hostage negotiator and prostitution decoy and wrestled razors away from a suicidal person.

After reading this article, two words come to mind. Two words I try not to use unless truly pushed to the absolute end of my patience. Those two words are STUPID CUNT! I am completely flabbergasted by the audacity of this woman. And then, the incredible balls of the lawyer to say the family brought this on themselves "and then tried to play the victim." You have got to be fucking kidding me. No wonder so many people think lawyers are all scum. How do people become so ridiculous as to think this is okay? That somehow this behaviour and these words are moral and just? It makes me afraid for the future. What is next? Doctors suing patients because they catch a cold while giving an exam for a cold? Firemen suing a homeowner for getting burned while attempting to extinguish a house fire? A nurse suing because the Alzheimer's patient she was changing accidentally pisses on her? Where does the madness end? When will people step up to the plate and take responsibility for the bad things that happen in their lives? When will we as a nation (As a species even.), stand up to idiots like this and say "NO MORE, YOU DON"T GET ONE FUCKING CENT!" I am in awe! In awe of the ignorance that surrounds me. This is why I do not read the news paper anymore. Getting this angry just gives me a headache. I would love to hear what you think of this story, leave a comment. That's all, Goodnight.

I read an update the other
day that she dismissed the lawsuit voluntarily.... but you know a bunch of people probably gave her an incredible amount of shit for being unbelievably heartless when a family had to deal with that terrible tragedy. So would she have changed her mind if no one really had much to say??

Well, she was suspended with pay until everything can be investigated. But even her chief advised her not to sue. What was she thinking??

Wachovia has set up some sort of donation account for the family. I heard there was some hope he might not have to stay at the nursing home forever, but you know if he came home it would require alot of care and alot of money so I hope they are able to raise a decent amount.

If you find out about the fund, and where to donate could you let me know? I do not have much, but I am sure every little bit would help. The cruel nature of most people explains why I pick and choose my friends so carefully. I will remember this family in my prayers, and also this sad miserable woman, in hopes that they all find a peace they can live with. Hugs, Dawn

This is what it said online:

How to help

A family friend today set up an account, hoping to raise funds for the boy's long-term care. It's the Joseph "Joey" Cosmillo Assistance Fund. Donors can make contributions at any Wachovia bank branch.
...............................

I called the 800 # for Wachovia and the girl had no idea what I was talking about... so she transfered me to a local branch and it took some time but they verified that there's a fund. You have to give them the name of the fund as listed above and that it's out of Casselberry, FL

Yes, it's good to keep both in prayer as even tho the cop didn't act morally, she acted out of pain, which sometimes really wears on a person. I'm sure she's had a change of mind.... or hope she has... and is understanding more of what they are going thru.

Peace, Mary

Thanks You Mary, for the information and for your kind heart. It is restful for my soul to know that there are other people out there in this big ol' world who still care. I will be making a visit to my local Wachovia branch this payday. I can not give much, but with the stress that this tragedy has already placed on this family, the last thing they need to be concerned with right now is how to pay for it. And every little bit counts. I remember getting the bill after my daughter passed away, for her two day stay in the NICU, and the cost of my other daughter's stay in the nursery, my c-sect etc. etc. I remember crying wondering how I would ever pay it off. (Let's just say it was somewhere over $100,000.00 and leave it at that.) ((How is that possible by the way? It just doesn't seem fair to hit people with bills like that at the worst possible times in their lives!)) I cried again when I contacted my insurance company and found out that all I actually owed was about $652.00. It seems that between the insurance company paying, many of the doctors and specialists refusing payment, and the hospitals writing off huge chunks of their portions of the bill, all I owed was for the life flight, my ambulance ride, and my meals. God Bless the kind hearts of all involved! It was a great relief to be able to grieve without the added burden of worrying how I would pay for it all. Remember this family, and this woman in your prayers, they will need all the help they can get to deal with the impact this will have on the rest of their lives. Hugs, Dawn
